Service & Leadership

Beginning with lower school, Village Academy programming requires students to participate in community service projects. Students of all ages are given opportunities to perform community service projects such as park clean-ups, adopt-an-animal at the zoo, card making and holiday visits for nursing homes and senior centers, participating in food drives, and other service activities throughout the year.

Students in the middle and upper school are required to accumulate 20 and 40 hours, respectively, per school year. These students work with lower school students as tutors, set up and clean up for special events, and volunteer to help for various school activities. Upper school students are also encouraged to explore and take on internship opportunities in a variety of fields including medical, business, and government.

Middle and upper school students are urged to participate in leadership organizations. Student leadership is encouraged through Student Senate (middle and upper school), Junior National Honor Society (middle school), National Honor Society (upper school), Junior Beta Club, Beta Club, and a variety of other clubs and organizations. There are also leadership opportunities available through adjunct county, state, and national programs. Many of our students attend leadership seminars and forums on a regular basis.
