  | Lower school students are learners and leaders under construction. By that we mean, students are constantly learning, building, and expanding upon their foundational knowledge. Teachers meet regularly to discuss and evaluate the curriculum, student and parent needs, classroom management, new concepts and ideas, and developments in both methodology and pedagogy. The Lower School Program provides a strong foundation of concepts and skills in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, foreign language, fine arts, performing arts, physical education, and technology. The School provides a supportive environment that combines academic rigor with close attention to each student's character and self-esteem. The structure of the program encourages student success through personalized learning at all skill levels. In other words, students have the opportunity to progress academically, based on their own challenge level, while appropriate grade-level socialization is maintained. For the differentiated learner, accomplishments and successes are experienced through individualized accommodations. The interdisciplinary lower school program is experiential in nature. Our academic program is enriched through field trips, cultural arts programs, fine and performing arts series, guest speakers, day camps, and interactive presentations. As an independent international school, we honor cultural diversity and celebrate individual differences. |
